Current restrictions due to the Corona Virus still allow us to go out, but we are restricting that to just the necessary things such as (infrequent) trips to the supermarket. Although I did take advantage of the Senior’s Hour this morning. I think I was probably the youngest customer, but old enough to qualify. We just needed some eggs and had not seen any in the last couple of weeks. I was able to get some.
And we are walking around the lake next door to us a couple of times a day. We only see a handful of people there each time. And obviously keep our distance.
We will still have a few tradesmen in now and again over the coming few days to finish off the renovations. Then that’s it. Totally shutting up shop. The number of confirmed cases here in Ballarat rose to 5 today.
Being in a bit of a lockdown, I found time to do a bit of mineral photography today…
Grey complex dolomite crystals with a single brownish cerussite crystal from the Kintore open cut, Broken Hill. In addition, there are tufts of an unknown white mineral. Candidates could be sepiolite (not recorded at Broken Hill) or palygorskite (recorded, but as a different habit, and rare). Maybe something else. It needs to be analysed. But that can wait.
