Went for a short drive today from Ballarat down to Meredith (☕ stop!), then west towards Mount Mercer before heading back through Buninyong and back to home.
The Yarrowee River runs south from Ballarat, and we crossed it to the east of Mount Mercer. There is a nice little picnic spot on the side of the river that we hadn’t come across before. Cliff faces and lots of coarse quartz sand, the latter obviously being washed down from the Ballarat goldfields. I reckon there would still be some fine gold here.
