Had a very pleasant day out today to Mount Franklin, a volcano near Daylesford, Victoria.

Part of the Newer Volcanics, Mount Franklin is said to be about 20 million years old. It has a range of rock types indicating different periods and types of eruption. These include scoria, ash, and basalt, with some olivine bombs.

Mindat records only four “minerals”: Anorthoclase, Augite, Diopside-Hedenbergite and Omphacite. We found a few other species too…
