Darkfield Illumination II

Had to rejig my setup today. Decided to use an old LED ring light so that I didn’t have to disconnect either the one on my microscope or the one on my camera (both of which are the same). But this old one is slightly larger.

One of the benefits of using black card. I simply cut out a new piece.

This image shows chlorite inclusions in a quartz crystal from Philosopher’s Ridge, Mount Lyell, Tasmania. At the top is a darkfield image. At the bottom is an incident (reflected light) image.

Photo width 5mm.
