A package arrived today with three new species for my collection. One of them is lavoisierite, named after French chemist, Antoine-Laurent Lavoisier.

Unironically, the lavoisierite chemical formula contains quite a bit of oxygen. Lavoisier was the discoverer of oxygen, the element.

The formula is Mn2+8Al10(Mn3+Mg)4(Si2O7)2(PO4)(Si3O10)(OH)12. It is a complex silicate-phosphate.
